Leave Taking

First Night

One tongue we speak

Yet we have no understanding.

We kiss now, but do not touch.

Love's afterglow fading

And only my lonely reflection

In this pool tells me you're not here.

Last Night

Afterwards we've gone our separate paths,

Afraid to touch again, sated.

Yet the loneliness already creeping in,

And the hunger rising as I walk

Through the naked dark

Of the city at night.
