In Those Years

In those years I lived on a hill
Overlooking a lake.
The children came
And the children went.
I went down to the sea
Alone with regrets.
In those years I lived on a hill
Overlooking a lake
And in summer the sun
Would sparkle and ripple
Through the trees and I would sit
Alone with regrets.
In those years I lived on a hill
Overlooking a lake
And in the winter the rain
Would dapple the lake
Like dimples that vanished
With all my regrets.
